Clean Air Day: The Path Towards a Greener, Healthier Planet

Clean Air Day is the UK's largest air pollution campaign, aiming to bring awareness to the growing global issue of air pollution and its impact on the environment and human health. Every year, hundreds of events and activities are organized to promote cleaner air and a healthier, greener planet.

From raising awareness about the issue to informing people about the solutions that can help reduce air pollution, Clean Air Day strives to make a difference in our world. This article provides an overview of Clean Air Day, its mission, and the various ways everyone can contribute to the cause.

What is Clean Air Day?

This year, Clean Air Day is on June 15th. It is a day for people to come together to raise awareness about air pollution and how it affects our health and the planet.

The campaign focuses on encouraging people to take action in their local communities to reduce air pollution, such as using public transport or walking more often instead of driving, making small changes in their homes such as reducing energy use, composting and recycling more, or planting trees.

Other activities during Clean Air Day include attending seminars about air quality issues, participating in clean-up events, or organising educational workshops.

What is the mission of Clean Air Day?

The mission of Clean Air Day is to create a cleaner environment and healthier future by engaging individuals and organisations throughout the UK in activities that will help reduce air pollution.

It is becoming clear that improving air quality is not only achievable but also has many benefits. Additionally, there are several other developments that are contributing to this goal, including the increased availability of EV charging stations and e-bikes. Another example of innovation is the NHS's riverboat delivery service.

A recent survey shows that a significant number of people are in favour of improving air quality, indicating a strong demand for necessary changes to be made. Over the last three years, the percentage of people who believe that tackling air pollution should be a priority in the UK has increased by 11%, reaching 82%. 90% of people now report taking at least one action to help reduce outdoor air pollution.

What Can I Do for Clean Air Day?

We all have an important role to play in reducing air pollution. On Clean Air Day, everyone from young children to adults can join in by taking steps towards protecting the environment and creating a healthier future. Here are some ways you can contribute:

  • Use public transport or carpool whenever possible

  • Switch off lights when not in use

  • Support green initiatives in your local area

  • Plant trees and shrubs – even one tree helps!

  • Join clean-up events or volunteer with local environmental organisations

  • Educate yourself and others about the importance of air quality in our lives

Clean Air Day is an important day for everyone to come together and take action. By raising awareness, we can make a difference in reducing air pollution and creating a healthier, greener planet.
